Happy Holidays!

Jed and I had our first Christmas together and the first year we were away from our families (except while we were on a mission). It was really great! We had a really relaxing day. We opened presents made a big breakfast and talked to our families on the phone. Jed caught a bad cold so rather than driving to Wasilla for Dinner with the Hayward's we stayed at home and I made Cinnamon rolls.

All our Christmas garbage!

The sun is only up for a few hours but when it starts to set it creates some of the most amazing sunsets! This particular sunset we drove around for an hour trying to fin the best pictures. This is over the Turn again Arm with the ice floating in bay.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas!

It's been snowing all day and it is beautiful! All of the tree branches are perfectly highlighted with snow. I haven't left the building yet today...so I can't wait to drive home in the weather!
So with all the new snow I am once again going to search for a pair of warm and reasonably priced snow boots. No ordinary pair of boots will due...they have to be at least -40 degree weather boots so my toes don't freeze and turn black and fall off! We haven't been able to go play in the snow yet because I'm bootless. If any of you happen to find some good boots, (size 7.5-8) let me know ASAP!
I always wait until I have something really spectacular to blog about...days and days go by but I want to hear from you all because I miss everyone. I am feeling kind of homesick this time of year. So I figure I need to do my part to keep you all updated since I don't hear much from you all (especially all of you who read my blog but don't leave a COMMENT!)
Just an update...I'm busy at work, well not right now I'm taking my blog break (I keep thinking I should take up smoking so I could get 25 breaks a day...but it's too cold outside) I haven't done much Christmas shopping, but there is not too much I need to buy, since Jed and I already got our "Christmas Present" already. We haven't really done anything super Christmassy...but my co-workers sang Christmas songs in my office today...and really "The Best way to spread Christmas Cheer is to sing Loud for All to Hear!!" That was my random bit for the day!! I miss you all!

Our Merry North Pole Adventure

This weekend we took a long drive and ended up in the North Pole. We went to do a favor for my sisters. It was a fun excuse to get away! We drove up Friday and stayed over night in Fairbanks. Then spent a few hours in North Pole before we headed back! There is nothing like eating ice cream at 0 degrees! It's nice because it doesn't melt!

The roads were pretty slick. It was like that TV show Ice Truckers.
But we finally arrived at our destination....Where the Spirit of Christmas Lives All YEAR ROUND!!! YAY!
Everything in North Pole is themed around Christmas...including all the light poles and business signs. The most popular is the Santa Claus House...the largest gift shop completely full of Christmas items. We had tons of fun walking around. There were some ice sculptures, reindeer, Santa himself was there...but since it is so close to Christmas he was kind of busy, getting ready and all ;)

We sat in the ice sled twice...It was really stinkin' cold. Like sitting on an ice cube (in the freezer). Over all it wasn't too cold in North Pole it was about 10 degrees.

And that was our Merry North Pole Adventure!
