It's A Boy, Half Way There & Ultrasounds!

We had our ultrasound yesterday and found out we are having a boy! We are very excited but we would have been excited either way. It's nice to know what it is and be able to plan ahead a little bit.

Today I am 20 weeks, that means I am half way there! So here is a little update on what is going on:
  • I feel the baby moving everyday and yesterday Jed felt it for the first time (I guess I can call it a him rather than it now).
  • I've only gained 1.5 lbs since last appointment so a total of 4 lbs, which they say is healthy.
  • I love hot spicy foods, I am curious if the baby is going to be born with a Mexican accent...but as of lately I have killer heart burn all the time so I am going to have to cut back on the jalapenos, which makes me sad.
  • I haven't been able to sleep through the night since last week, so I am hoping that is more from the cold I have rather than a long term trend...even though I am prepared for the restless nights later on.
Below are a bunch of ultrasound pictures...most of them I can't really tell what they are but if you stare at them long enough you might be able to see a foot or something. Everything went really well. With my job I work with people who are physically or mentally disabled so that has been something I've worried a lot about, so when I mentioned that to the ultrasound tech, he was really great at pointing out specific things he looks for for disorders and syndromes. Everything looked really great, the baby is a normal size. The tech said he thinks I'll probably deliver early because I am a smaller woman...I think he just cursed me, watch now I'll hold on to this kid until after the first of the year.

  2. Oh that was a curse all right. I too am a smaller woman and I was 9 days late with a 9 pound baby for my first (they got earlier and smaller with each one) but seriously, don't count on going early especially with a boy. Their lungs develop later than girls... But boys are awesome!!! My 2 were so fun that when I did finally get a girl (which I really wanted by baby #3) I was scared because boys are so easy. And I was right to be scared...girls are tricky:)
